The Manchester International Festival is big and brings in millions of pounds to the community. Geared towards theatre, Manchester incalls and music lovers artists come from very diverse backgrounds and countries. It takes place in July and this year brought in luminaries like Bjork from Iceland, Snoop Dogg from the US and Sinead O’Connor.
Bjork started the event with the world premiere of a selection of musical pieces from her new album Biophilia. The Manchester presentation was the prototype for her collection of apps. She did not disappoint with her usually visually stunning costumes. It is the world’s first app album and was recently released on Oct. 10, 2011. It is a ground breaking presentation with David Attenborough describing the concept of a 3D cosmos.
While listening to the music the listener can visit the different planets.There is an app for each song and an education project to teach children about space.
